SRDaily Ep. 351 – Protecting What’s Sacred: Art, Heart, and Expectancy

On today's 351st episode of SRDaily, we tapped into something deep and vital—what it really means to live with intention, protect your sacred treasures, and move through the world with bold expectancy.

🎨 Segment 1: Quote of the Day – The Artist's True Calling

“It’s not an artist’s job to please anyone, but to bravely do the work that they are most compelled to do. It’s the public’s job to bravely seek out and appreciate the work that resonates with them.” — Unknown (via Jamell Shabazz)

This quote hit me hard this morning, courtesy of my brother Jamell Shabazz’s Instagram. As an artist, my responsibility isn’t to pander or please—it’s to honor the divine gift I’ve been entrusted with. That’s it. That’s the assignment.

In a world of likes, algorithms, and applause-seeking, it’s easy to drift. But we must remember: your creative path is sacred. Don't dilute your art trying to appeal to everyone. Your only real obligation is to show up and tell the truth that burns in your soul.

🛡️ Segment 2: Need-to-Know News – Today Is Protect Yo Heart Day!

Today, April 23rd, is Protect Yo Heart Day, and I’m incredibly proud of my brother UnCutt Art for creating it. Unlike holidays that blur the line between love for others and love for self, this day is entirely devoted to self-love, self-awareness, and emotional responsibility.

Let’s break it down:

  • Origin: Founded by NYC artist UnCutt Art, Protect Yo HeART Day is rooted in Proverbs 4:23 — “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

  • Purpose: To spotlight emotional well-being, honor your feelings, and treat your inner life with reverence.

  • Activities: From street art to storytelling, short films to community panels—this day is an artistic celebration of emotional and spiritual self-care.

  • Impact: It’s a movement that challenges us to reflect, reconnect, and re-commit to loving ourselves wholly and loudly.

Protecting your heart isn’t just a suggestion. It’s spiritual maintenance. And this day gives us all permission—and the responsibility—to love ourselves harder.

"Protecting your heart isn’t just a suggestion. It’s spiritual maintenance."

💎 Segment 3: Tip of the Day – Honor Your Sacred Treasures

Today’s tip? Treat your heart like the sacred treasure it is.

Along with your mind and your spirit, these three are your sacred treasures. Care for them. Nurture them. And when you’re ready, share them.

What the world needs more of is people who genuinely love themselves. Not in theory, not on social media—but in real life. People who extend that love not just to those closest to them, but to strangers, to the world.

"What the world needs is more people who really love themselves sharing that self-love with others."

Segment 4: Build of the Day – The Power of Expectancy

Let’s talk about expectancy—particularly when it comes to your goals and your connection to the Divine. Too many people are out here expecting failure. Expecting mediocrity. Why? Because they’ve been taught to believe they’re separate from God. That’s a lie. You are not separate. You are one with God, one with the Source, and some of us are just a little deeper in it because of our faith, our discipline, and our practice.

So I ask you: What if you expected to win? Would you win every time? No. But I guarantee, expecting greatness gives you a much better chance at achieving it than walking around with a failure mindset.

"Expecting greatness gives you a much better chance at achieving it than walking around with a failure mindset."

Final Word

Episode 351 was a beautiful reminder that this life—your life—is sacred. Your gifts are sacred. Your heart is sacred. And your mindset is a key that either opens doors or builds walls.

Today and every day, protect your heart, honor your gifts, and expect to win.

We’ll see you tomorrow for Ep. 352.
